Module 5: Long-term Health Impacts of ACE – Ecological Model (Mental and Physical Health)

Breaking the Cycle: Preventive Strategies for Addressing ACE

Fostering Resilience: Building resilience in children through strong, supportive relationships with caregivers, teachers, and the community can mitigate the effects of ACE. Teaching stress management, emotional regulation, and problem-solving skills promotes better mental health.

Promoting Prosocial Development, Trauma-Informed Positive School and Community Environment

Creating trauma-informed and sensitive schools recognizes that children may be traumatized. Supporting inclusive, prosocial environments helps children feel safe, which fosters positive social development and reduces the likelihood of future negative behaviors.

Parent and Caregiver Education: Providing education and resources to parents and caregivers about positive parenting techniques, stress management, and emotional support can break the intergenerational cycle of trauma, helping to create healthier family dynamics and improve the overall well-being of the child.
